Membership
The Mock Trial Board invites all GW Law students to pursue membership through the approved methods listed below. Whether you are a first-year student, an upper-level student, or an incoming transfer student, we welcome all those eager to develop their trial advocacy skills, challenge themselves in competition, and represent GW Law in the courtroom.
For First-Year Students
Each spring semester, the Board hosts the Hollingsworth LLP Mock Trial Competition. The competition requires teams of four first-year competitors to participate in a full mock trial against a team of their peers. Membership offers are extended to those competitors who exhibit exemplary trial skills, and awards are given to the best team and top individual oral advocates. For Upper-Level/Transfer Students
The fall semester brings the opportunity for all upper-level GW Law students to compete for Board membership in the Cohen & Cohen Upper-Level Mock Trial Competition. Additionally, students competing in this competition earn academic credit for their participation, regardless of whether an invitation for Board membership is extended. The competition is held on-campus, with the final round held in the Burns Moot Courtroom. For more information, please visit our Internal Competitions page.
For Transfer Students
The GW Law Mock Trial Board recognizes that transfer students may bring valuable trial advocacy experience from their previous institutions. Eligible transfer students may petition for Board membership through a formal review process designed to evaluate their experience, qualifications, and readiness to contribute to the Board.
